Free Estimate SA.jpg

Step 1: Free On-Site Estimate by Dedicated Estimator

Booking your free estimate has never been easier using our online booking calendar tool. Pick a day and time that best works for you and your estimate will be scheduled. You will receive reminders prior to the appointment.

  • Our estimator will visit your home to measure and assess all surfaces to be painted or repaired. Most visits last less than an hour and there's no hard sales tactics.

  • The estimate will be written in detail by line items showing the amount and cost of the work. You know exactly what you're paying for and it can easily be adjusted.

  • Estimates are emailed within 48 hours unless you request another means of delivery. You review the estimate at your leisure and let us know when you are ready to proceed.

  • Depending on the time of the year most projects are started within 3-7 days. We paint year round provided the temperature is about 45 degrees during paint application.

Step 2: Kickoff Meeting

At Home Pros, we know that the key to a long-lasting paint job is expert preparation and using only high-quality materials. Through years of experience, we've tested countless products and perfected our process—now, we only use the best.

  • On the morning your project begins, our estimator and crew will walk through the scope of work with you one last time to ensure every detail is covered. During this kickoff meeting, you’ll provide us with your color choices, paint grade, and finish preferences.

  • If any adjustments to the scope of work are needed, we’ll document them and send you an updated price via email.

  • Before starting, our crew will take photos of any pre-existing damage—such as torn screens, dented gutters, or broken window glass—to prevent any misunderstandings. These images will be sent to you via email or text for your records.

Step 3: Carpentry Repairs

Our crew will strictly follow the approved scope of work for all repairs. If they discover additional issues during the project, they will notify you (if you're home) and inform the Home Pros estimator or owner. You'll be shown the necessary repairs along with pricing, and no additional work will be done without your approval.

  • We use matching materials whenever possible—for example, cedar is replaced with cedar, and Smartside with Smartside. These details are discussed and agreed upon during the kickoff meeting.

  • In some cases, we may recommend alternative materials for better durability, with your approval. For instance, PVC (a vinyl-like material) is often a better choice for areas near gutters prone to excessive moisture and rot. Likewise, if you currently have pine trim, upgrading to Smartside trim may be a more durable option.

  • For older homes, keep in mind that newer materials may not be an exact match. Siding sheets may have slightly different channel sizes, modern lumber dimensions are slightly smaller (a 2x6 is actually 1 ¾" x 5 ½"), and lap siding may have slight variations in gap size. With years of experience, we know how to find the best possible matches to ensure a seamless look.

Caulking Powerhouse.jpg

Step 4: Caulking

Caulking serves two purposes: to keep water/moisture out and to make things look aesthetically pleasing (like making things look smooth).

  • Our standard caulk is Sherwin Williams Powerhouse® with a 60 year warranty. We use it because after trial and error we find that it is very elastic so it can expand without breaking the seal. Of course every house is different and if your house has a lot of movement, it could still cause the caulk to break the seal.

  • Although in many instances the existing caulk on a house is in good shape (not peeling, sealed with paint, no cracks), the crew will go ahead and apply new caulk on nail heads, seams, holes, gaps, and any where water needs to be kept out.

  • There are certain types of lap siding and shake siding where caulking should not be applied to the small expansion gaps. The gaps allow the materials to move and applying caulk will only gunk up the gap.  We can go over this with you in person.

  • Caulking should not be applied underneath the spaces of lap siding and basically areas where the water cannot enter the house.  Soffits should really have a small gap to allow water to drain should it make it's way there.  Once again we can point this out in person.

Pressure Washing.jpg

Step 5: Pressure Washing

We will pressure wash the exterior of the house with a focus on areas being painted.  Pressure washing is NOT intended to remove existing flaking or loose paint.  Matter of fact a pressure washer will do more harm than good if you try to use it to remove peeling paint.

  • Pressure washing is intended to remove dirt, grime, and other contaminants that could hamper the ability of the new paint to adhere to the house surface.

  • We do not use any kind of detergent or cleaner on the house prior to pressure washing.  We only want pure water, primer, and paint touching the house. The exception to this would be some kind of mold removal product that would be applied directly to the moldy surface prior to pressure washing.

  • We  have found that the pressure washer will NOT remove some heavy duty spider webs or imbedded dirt--especially gutters. In those instances, the crew will use scrub brushes, brooms, rages, or whatever is at their disposal to remove what needs to be removed.

  • So do not be surprise if you still see spider webs and even some dirt after the pressure washing has occurred.

Step 6: Primer Bare Wood and New Materials

Primer helps bond the new paint to the surface.  Paint likes to bond to paint so it is used primarily over new wood or bare spots. Although if you have a lot of peeling paint, it may be required over the painted surfaces to seal that flaking paint.

  • All new wood (pine and cedar) installed does get a coat of primer along with caulking.

  • Composite wood (Smartside siding and trim) is paint ready so no need to apply primer.

  • PVC materials are paint ready so no need for primer.

  • Any kind of metal or vinyl that will be painted does require primer and even then with vinyl at least, there is not guarantee on how long the paint will bond.

Step 7: Masking and Protection

Masking and protecting your property is done right before the painting begins.  We try to limit how long areas are masked off--especially windows and doors so that you can still see and walk out of your house.

  • The crew will mask off windows, doors, and any other areas that are not being painted.

  • Special attention is given to the area where the roof meets siding to avoid overspray on the roof.

  • Light fixture, shutters (provided not attached to brick), mailboxes, cameras, etc. are protected or removed depending

        on feasibility.

  • Bushes, plants, fences, decks, pergolas, etc. are covered to avoid getting any kind of overspray.

  • We do ask for vehicle to be parked on the street and not left in the driveway.

Step 8: Our Paint & Application Process

At Home Pros Painting, we primarily use Sherwin-Williams products for their proven durability and high-quality finish. However, we understand that some homeowners have a preferred paint brand. We're happy to accommodate your choice, provided it meets our 5-year warranty standards. Over the years, we've successfully worked with Benjamin Moore, PPG, and BEHR without any issues.

  • Our crews use a combination of air sprayers, brushes, and rollers to ensure a flawless finish. For most homes, siding and brick surfaces are sprayed, while trim is brushed and rolled for precision and even coverage.

  • The premium Sherwin-Williams paint we use typically requires just one properly applied coat for repaints. If your home already has existing paint, it qualifies as a repaint job.

  • Certain surfaces, such as T-111 siding, stucco, and brick, require back rolling after spraying to work the paint into small crevices, ensuring proper adhesion and longevity. Additionally, some SmartSide siding has small channels that need to be brushed with paint for full coverage.

  • With over 2,000 completed projects, we've found that most homes require a combination of application techniques for the best results. Our method is backed by our 5-year "NO PEEL" guarantee—a level of confidence you won’t find just anywhere. Some companies may push a single application method to win you over, but unless they're offering a warranty longer than 5 years, their approach may not be as durable as they claim.

  • When you choose Home Pros Painting, you’re getting a time-tested process that ensures a beautiful, long-lasting finish—guaranteed.

Step 9: Clean Up and Touchups

Our crews take pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace. At the end of each day, they ensure all tools and equipment are neatly put away, minimizing the final cleanup once the painting is complete.

  • As soon as the painting is finished, all masking plastic and paper are promptly removed.

  • At this stage, the crew lead will carefully inspect the work, identifying any areas that need touch-ups.

  • Once all touch-ups are completed, any removed fixtures—such as light fixtures, shutters, cameras, and mailboxes—are reinstalled, leaving your space looking polished and refreshed.

Step 10: Project Walkthrough and Closeout

Once your project is complete, the lead painter will conduct a detailed walk-through with the person who was present during the estimate and/or kickoff meeting. Together, you'll review the work and address any concerns on the spot.

  • If you notice anything after the crew has left the premises, simply contact our office, and we'll send someone out within three days to take care of it.

  • You'll also receive a 5-year transferable warranty certificate via email—a valuable selling point if you're planning to put your home on the market.

  • About a year after your project is completed, we'll send you a reminder for a project checkup. You can schedule a convenient time for our warranty painter to come out, review the work, and fix any issues right then and there.

  • At Home Pros, we stand by our workmanship, but we know that painters are human—things happen. No matter what, we're here to take care of any paint-related issues that may arise.
